What exactly is the InBody Assessment?

When you sign up for training with Body20, an initial InBody Assessment will be done in order to give you and your Champ (personal trainer) a good idea of the way your fitness journey should be personalised.

Your Inbody Assessment is a biometric analysis of your weight, body composition, height and BMI that provides valuable insights into your health and wellness.

The InBody testing process is completely non-invasive and only takes a couple of minutes, and whilst stepping onto any kind of scale can prove intimidating, you must not worry.

The assessment enables you to track your progress and you will step onto the InBody Scale before each weekly workout so your fitness and nutrition programmes can be tweaked where and if necessary.

Firstly, the InBody will measure your weight. Then your height, age, and sex will be entered into the machine.

Next, you will need to hold the hand sensors on either side of the machine with your arms outstretched at about waist level with your thumbs on the sensors.

Once the InBody Scale has completed its reading, you will receive a detailed print out explaining your unique body composition analysis, giving your Champ some valuable insight into what your body is doing and how you can move forward to achieve your goals. Simple as that!

To get the most accurate reading, InBody testing should be done at least 3 hours after eating or exercising and you should maintain your typical fluid intake the day before.

Here is a fun fact - you’ll want to make sure you’ve been standing upright for at least 5 minutes before your InBody test; this helps ensure your body fluid is evenly distributed. If it’s cold outside, give yourself time to warm up before your test.

The InBody test results give you an in-depth look at your body composition broken down into body fat, muscle mass, and water weight broken down by each region of your body (i.e. your right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg).

You’ll learn about your unique makeup, find out if there are imbalances, and be able to track your progress with weekly follow-up testing.

From this assessment, you will find out:

  • If you’re drinking enough water or if you’re dehydrated.
  • How healthy your cells are.
  • Whether you’re losing or gaining muscle mass and fat.
  • How many calories your body is burning at rest as well as your body fat percentage.

By having a weekly InBody Assessment, you are able to track your progress and adjust your goals in real time. Having your results at hand gives you excellent motivation to stick to your routine and work towards your health and fitness goals.

Remember, your Champ is on your side and ready to assist you with understanding your weekly InBody Assessments as well as guide you, support you and motivate you!
